We have indeed come a long way. From peaceful coexistence to vitriolic conflicting views on girl's attire to literally diminishing the idea of freedom, personal liberty, and choice. From the public funded schools to the colleges, and from the universities to government offices, the religious symbols can be seen throughout, mostly the symbols that signify the cultural hagemony of majority class. The symbols never provoked the minorities to question the establishment regarding the sanctity of a public funded institution because of such endorsements. More precisely, it's never been a problem for the largest minority community or any minorities for that matter. No uproar, no hue and cry. Suddenly, the state realizes to keep the sanctity of the educational institutions intact. The personal choice of a handful of girls reportedly posed a threat to the secular nature of institutions, isn't it rubbish?

This is disgusting that a Hindi Cinema actress peddles not only the lies in broad daylight but also makes a strong assertion that demeans and belittles the honest sacrifice our forefathers made for us. The recipient of a highly coveted civilian honor deliberately and disrespectfully attempts desecration of the sweat and blood of the freedom warriors. Surprisingly, a National TV Channel let this happen. They did not even refute the hyperbole and the atrocious lies or run an apology for spreading the hateful agenda. The audience crouching there played the cheerleader's role.

The protestors and the people expressing dissents are sent to jail immediately. No bail, no mercy granted even in the times when their kith and kin are on death bed. In contrast, the prime accused of a gruesome mass murder receives VIP treatment for a whole week even when there is a substance in the allegation. What kind of justice system is it? This is not an individual case. Every citizen of India is a stakeholder. Today it is dissenting farmers, students, activists, and tomorrow it could be any individual. Unfortunately, citizens at large keep a mum over the uncountable tyranny and hardship inflicted upon another citizen.

After finishing my PGD from Asia's top Media School, I made my debut with RSTV. It was my first training school where I discovered the ABC of broadcast journalism. In a short period, I explored various things ranging from socio-economic dynamics to the political culture of our nation. Humorously saying, my mentor(s) and Editor believed that I was the most studious individual. They often expected me to decipher bulky reports tabled in parliament by different ministries. The reports drafted by top bureaucrats of this country always gave me the impression that they were designed cryptically.
